Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
